The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and American National Standards Institute (ANSI) are committed to improving conditions for workers and provide specifications, designs, applications, and use of header-style Accident Prevention Safety Signs. These safety signs are intended to indicate the potential, type, and degree of the hazard that may lead to accidental injury and property damage. Accident Prevention Signs are intended to convey a clear and rapidly understood message of the specific hazards. OSHA recognizes the importance of posting high quality safety signs in all hazardous and unsafe areas of a work environment. In fact, OSHA professionals have carefully developed a highly effective design for safety signs.
DANGER: Use "DANGER" to indicate a hazardous situation which has a high probability of death or severe injury.
CAUTION: Use "CAUTION" to indicate a hazardous situation which may result in a minor or moderate injury. (This heading should not be used, however, when there is a possibility of death or serious injury)
WARNING: Use "WARNING" to indicate a hazardous situation which has some probability of death or severe injury.
NOTICE: Use "NOTICE" to indicate a statement of company policy as a message relates directly or indirectly to the safety of personnel or protection of property. (This heading should not be associated directly with a hazard or hazardous situation and must not be used in place of DANGER, WARNING or CAUTION)
